A surprise was the built-in D/A converter: When we connected the excellent CD player ART V2 conventionally with cinch wires and also to the digital input, we always came to rest at the even more smooth and naturally sounding digital input section of the MAP in the direct comparison...

...how does the MAP sound? In fact quite excellent! This is really a case of pure High-end...
Compared to any other receiver or integrated amp on the market the Audionet MAP controls the music as well as the dialogues and sound effects with a real iron fist. The bass is deep as a pit, controlled to 100 % and eloquent in a way that we did not think possible with DD sound. The airy openness and formidable elaboration let out a number of sound details in the open, which normally would disappear in the overall sound picture...

After passing the measuring laboratory with stunning results it was time for the listening test. Thereby, not only some titles have been played partially - no, we have watched the concert ("The Corrs Live in London") completely, and several times!...
MAP was able to reproduce the live recording realistic, clear and enchaning. Seizable: The locating of all instruments and voices without tearing up the overall acoustic impression. Infatuating: The encasing concert hall atmosphere from all sides, nevertheless stable assignment of the stage without dips. A very important aspect became clear: The pleasure of music can not only be increased by multichannel reproduction, but turns - combined with impressive pictures - to new dimensions....
The capabilites of MAP in classic stereo mode are on an uncompromisingly high level and can easily take on stereophone highend components. In multichannel mode, this high level is not only maintained without deduction, but it is simply multiplied!
Conclusion: Without a doubt the Audionet MAP convinces as one of the best preamplifiers at all in every respect. Its uncompromising performance of the front channels should resolve all doubts of stereo-protectionists. But it is hard to imagine that MAP will only operate two speakers. If one still abandons pictures and multichannel sound while playing music, it is one's own fault!

But also here the motto obviously was "no, and regarding stereo, twice no compromise".
MAP already uses Pro Logic II. So good, that huge parts of old two-channel recordings were replayed in surround mode during the listening tests. Though this method decodes analogue, MAP impressed already in this session with strong control and very fine and colourful high frequencies.
Switching to digital multichannel software additionally led to very impressive spatiality and transparence.
As a preamplifier, MAP is an achiever. The multi-channel part makes this one of the very rare, universal links between finest music reproduction and best movie sound.
Result: Nobel built-up surround preamplifier with outstanding equipment and handling comfort. An audiophile bridging of stereo and multichannel high end.
